Mystic Mayapott Thekkady

Mystic Mayapot has everything you need while still feeling close to nature. It's a little away from the city's bustle, which made it a peaceful place to relax. The kitchen team deserves a special mention, the food was absolutely awesome. The staff were caring and supportive too. A perfect five-star experience.

The warm welcome stood out first: we were greeted with a cardamom garland and cinnamon tea, and the staff and others connected with the property were friendly throughout. With just five rooms, the place has a quiet, intimate feel. Parking is limited, though the low amount of vehicle movement on the property makes it manageable. We did have a serious issue with Room 201. The room above has a wooden floor without a concrete base, so ordinary footsteps and conversations carried clearly. Smoke from cigarettes upstairs also came into our room. Sound and air insulation need attention. Since the property is in a cardamom plantation forest, safety nets on open windows would also help guests feel safer and more comfortable. The tariff felt high for the facilities and inclusions. We understand that running a small property has costs, including staff, housekeeping, administration, and maintenance, but passing that burden entirely to guests doesn't seem fair. It also felt overhyped on social media. At this price, complimentary meals for all three daily meals would make the cost easier to justify. The people are genuinely hospitable, but the current offering doesn't reasonably match the price.

It was lovely to see the cardamom plantations and the property's design get noticed. Albert and the team responded promptly, and we're glad our staff's politeness came through, as we take pride in that. Thanks as well for pointing out the room size, privacy in the dining area, and kitchen hours. Your observations are valuable as we work to improve the guest experience.

We had a great morning trek, and the place stayed cool even while the surrounding areas were warm. The staff were amazing and the food was good too. One small thing, the wooden floor in our upstairs room was a bit slippery, and a carpet could fix that. I'd love to come back.
