The staff were polite, but the hotel felt shabby and dingy, with extremely small rooms. I had to call housekeeping in the middle of the night to change the very dirty bed linens because I couldn't sleep. The property is quite old and clearly needs maintenance and renovation. I recently stayed at Hotel Vijan Palace near the Ganjupura Market area, and the experience wasn't satisfactory. I wouldn't recommend staying there, since there are plenty of better options nearby.

The one thing I'd ask them to improve is cleanliness in the Deluxe Classic rooms. Otherwise, it's a very nice old school fashioned hotel, with great service and location. The complimentary buffet breakfast for all guests is the best part, with lots of variety and great taste. It is true: "Once a Vijan Guest Always a Vijan Guest"

Both the room and washroom were unclean, and the staff weren't good. When I ordered food, they brought the wrong order, then said that's how they serve it there and it couldn't be canceled, so I'd have to pay. Later I found a cockroach in the food. Who would have been responsible if it had caused food poisoning? I also added photos as proof.

The TV didn't work, and it took 3 hrs for the milk powder I asked for to arrive. They never provided slippers during my stay, even in the chilling winter. The crux of the whole story is that hospitality was hospitalized. Wishes, get well soon.

The buffet breakfast is a real highlight for a budget hotel. The room amenities could use some improvement, though.
