Banalata Resort is a calm place to get away from city noise, with polite, cooperative staff and a scenic setting. There’s a good range of food, from Bengali dishes to other Indian cuisines, at affordable prices, and you can arrange both meals and lodging. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and well kept, whether you’re visiting with family, a group, or just for a weekend. It’s a budget-friendly choice in Jaypur for a peaceful stay and good food. I’d recommend it to families, couples, and friends.

My wife and I came away feeling refreshed after a day or two at Banalata Resort. It’s about 10 kilometres from the temple town of Bishnupur, so it worked well as a base for sightseeing. We drove from Kolkata in our own car in the first week of December. The resort sits amid the Joypur forest area, though visiting the forest itself wasn’t part of our stay. The attentive, polite staff made us feel welcome throughout. We enjoyed relaxing walks around the large, well-kept grounds, and the dining room was spacious and comfortable, with a good choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Our room was a little small for the tariff, but neat, clean, and organized. The bed was clean and big enough for two, and the blankets kept us warm on winter nights. The bathroom was spacious and very clean, with all the necessary toiletries. It’s an affordable, pleasant place to rest and unwind.

The staff, most of them local villagers, were so polite and attentive, and their smiles and helpfulness made the stay feel welcoming. I also liked the clean, comfortable rooms and the rustic mud-house look, which gave the place a village feel while still having effective air conditioning. Being beside the Joypur Forest made it easy to enjoy the natural setting. I liked the peaceful walks and bird watching, and there’s also a mini-zoo on-site. It could be a good base for visiting the terracotta temples of Bishnupur. The food was the highlight for me. It tasted farm-fresh, with the resort’s organic gardens and fisheries, and the Bengali dishes had that home-cooked feel. The Posto Bara and fresh fish curry were delicious, and I’d say don’t miss the giant Rosogollas. The lush surroundings and serene atmosphere made my picnic stay a refreshing break from the daily grind. It’s good value for money, with nature, local culture, and great food. I’d come back, whether for a family weekend or a quiet break with friends.

The food is good and fairly priced, and the well-kept surroundings make for a soothing, nature-filled break. It’s a peaceful place to unwind and spend time away from the city.
