Hare Krishna Guest House

The management were friendly and the staff very nice. It felt like a homestay, and manu showed us some great local places we wouldn't have found on our own. The roof probably has the best view. We were in the clean, comfortable Deluxe Room, with AC and hot water, and the place is within a 7 minute walk of Clock Tower. Really recommended, especially as a budget hotel.

The family are very nice, and when the wifi stopped working the owner helped us out with his hot spot. Breakfast was available, but we went next door to the hostel, where a somewhat slimy man arranged a camel safari for us and exchanged money at a good rate. The rooms were okay, nothing special. It's in the middle of the old town, a short walk from the fort, and there's a great place to hang out on the roof with the best view of the fortress.

The location is great and the restaurant has a good view, but the room wasn't that clean. Hot water wasn't available all the time either. It would run for 2 minutes and then turn cold. That might not have bothered me as much if the owner hadn't confronted us angrily after my partner left a 6/10 review on booking.com, arguing with us to change the rating.

The rooftop is decent, but I was shocked by how poor the hygiene was after four months in India. The cutlery and glasses we got were visibly filthy, including a glass with what looked like mud splashed up its side. The mango shake was watery and undrinkable. We only ordered pasta, normally a 10-15 minute dish, but waited nearly an hour, and it was tasteless. It sounds harsh, but they really need to learn basic hygiene and up their game.
