Echor The Alpine Crest Kalpa

The balcony view of Kinner Kailash was beautiful, and the food tasted genuinely good. Beyond that, our stay at Echor Hospitality, Kalpa was really disappointing and nothing like what the online photos led us to expect. The rooms looked premium and luxurious in the pictures, but in person they felt basic, dull, and poorly maintained. The LED/TV shown in the room photos was missing. When we asked, staff said it had broken two days earlier, but we had booked after that and weren't told in advance. If a facility isn't available, they should say so before taking the booking instead of showing misleading photos. Service was extremely slow, even for basic requests, and guest service was unresponsive. Our family room had two connected rooms, but there were mosquitoes. Guests above us made a lot of noise until around 11:30 PM. We called reception three times, and the issue still wasn't handled properly. The hotel is also far down a steep hill, which made things inconvenient, especially with family and luggage. Apart from the food and the view, the experience was genuinely bad and nowhere near the expectations set online. It wasn't worth the hype or the price.

Bathroom issues, a smell in the room, and the quality of the service all need attention. Breakfast had limited options and the food wasn't good, though lunch or dinner orders were served at a better quality. The resort does have mesmerizing mountain views, including Mount Kailash from the room. I loved looking at them from the terrace over breakfast, and you can enjoy star gazing at night too.

The customer service overshadowed what was otherwise an average property with decent rooms and a truly beautiful view. The road to get there is narrow and makes access a little inconvenient. The Chandigarh-based booking team was unprofessional and unreliable, and the information they gave us was misleading, so expectations were off from the start. Road damage near Nako meant we couldn't get from Kaza to the property. It was an unavoidable natural disruption, but our rescheduling request got slow, unhelpful, and insensitive replies. Nobody tried to accommodate us or understand the situation. For a hospitality business, that level of service is unacceptable. This was one of my worst customer service experiences, and I'd urge others to think twice before booking.

The rooms were good, but the service was poor and food took hours to arrive. They also charge extra for a room heater. Parking is a steep way downhill from the main road, which is hard to reach if you're driving your own car.
