Hotel Ashish Inn

I’m a taxi driver, and this is my review from experience. Drivers often decide whether to stay with tourists or find their own place, and when they stay, the restaurant can earn from them too. I stayed overnight with my clients here, but had to sleep in the car. They couldn’t even provide a mattress, let alone food. On the NH1 and NH10 highways toward Delhi, many restaurants and dhabas have a separate area for drivers, with food, drinks, and accommodation available free of charge. Whether to eat or stay is up to the driver.

The food was great for travellers, tasty without being oily or too heavy. The place was clean, and the waiters were kind and humble, with really good service. They even let us use charging points for free.

The food quality is really good, and there’s enough seating. Service is the one issue: there were only two waiters, one very active and the other really slow, so things got especially sluggish when it was busy. I’d still recommend it for the food.

This place is easy to spot from the main road, with roadside parking for about 5-6 vehicles. It’s on the Shimla Nahan highway and isn’t very expensive. There’s a limited choice of drinks, plus tandoori parathas and other food, and a small confectionery shop next door for chips, chocolates, soft drinks and other quick snacks. Service was average, and we waited around 10-15 minutes.
