Hotel Sivamurugan

We knew food wasn't prepared at the hotel, so we tried several places nearby, including restaurants and tea shops just a short distance away. All the tourist spots are walkable, and the terrace has chairs where people can sit and watch the sunrise in peace. The best part for us was how carefully they handled our late arrival. We'd set off from Cuddalore at 3 p.m. for the 9-hour drive to Kanyakumari. During the trip, we called to ask for two rooms. The receptionist took my name and phone number, confirmed they were available, and said no advance payment was needed. At 10.00 p.m. they called back to ask where we were. We said we'd crossed Kovilpatti, and they worked out we'd arrive around 1.00 a.m. I was awestruck that they checked on our progress. We got there at about 12.45 a.m. and drove into the premises. Security asked if we'd booked, then, after I gave my name, readily directed us to the receptionist, who seemed to be waiting for us. We paid and were smoothly shown where to park safely and how to get to our rooms. The attendant made sure we had drinking water and brought us more. After a very long night drive of 570 kms in one shot, we felt very comfortable with how they looked after us at that hour.

The rooftop offers a sea view and a beautiful sunrise, with a nice breeze. Kanyakumari Beach is only three minutes away. We had a very good stay, with spacious, clean, well-kept rooms and excellent service from very courteous staff.

We had a hard time here with kids and elders, and I wouldn't recommend this place for a peaceful stay. The management was rude and unfriendly. They made us check out early in the morning under their 24-hour checkout policy, and wouldn't extend our stay even when I offered to pay extra. Hotels nearby look like better options. In hospitality, some flexibility with check-in and check-out would help keep customers happy.

The rooms were spacious, large, and clean, and the location is spot on. Still, none of the rooms face the sea, and they provide no toiletries beyond soap. I booked a non AC room through MMT, then had to pay ₹1200.00 per night just for AC, which made the tariff feel a bit high. At checkout, the person in charge and the security staff were asking for tips, which was the biggest drawback.
