OYO 70840 Hotel An Ash

The owner was friendly and polite, but the manager was rude and charged more. When we asked to extend our stay, he said the hotel was completely booked, even though it looked empty. Then he asked for extra money to let us stay longer. There were no bedsheets, blankets, or soap in the room, and the passage was only about 1.5 feet wide.

For five people, we paid just Rs. 1000, which felt affordable, and the owner was kind when I asked about the rate. The hotel is with OYO, which made it seem like a good choice. The entrance, the owner’s room, and the route to our room were all tidy, with bins along the way and no dirt or rubbish. Our room felt like a five-star one, with a queen bed and a king bed, plus six or seven neatly arranged pillows and big, heavy, soft white blankets. The new paint looked nice too. The Micromax TV was good quality, with HD channels that worked and could be switched into different languages, and the Micromax AC was five-star quality and 100% copper. The bathroom and toilet felt premium and looked clean as new. There were scented packets inside, and the sink had no smell. A geyser was available and the shower worked; the buckets were nice and the water was fresh. Good quality for only Rs. 1000 for five people. Best than rest.

We had paid the full amount in advance for two AC rooms for one night. But when we arrived, they said there were no rooms. We showed the booking confirmation email, and then they asked for an RT PCR certificate, a requirement that wasn’t mentioned on their website. We had our vaccination certificate with us, but they again said no rooms were available and told us they’d sold them directly. They didn’t provide any rooms, so we had to find another place at a higher price. They said they’d refund the payment within an hour, but I still haven’t received it. 25.12.2021, Kanyakumari.

There’s no backup power when the electricity goes out, and no car parking. Bugs and insects are everywhere. They don’t provide a blanket in non-AC rooms, or even soap. The minimum rating is one star. If zero were an option, that’s what I’d give.
