For around ₹1800–₹2000, this stay was nowhere near worth the price. In Katra, the same kind of room is available for around ₹300–₹500. The room was tiny, smelled bad, and had a seepage issue. The washroom was in very poor condition and wasn’t maintained properly. Noise was another problem: even ordinary conversations from nearby rooms came through clearly, making it hard to rest. Staff were few, rude, and unprofessional. I told the hotel about half an hour before I arrived, but still waited more than an hour for the room to be ready. Completely disappointing.

We were disappointed with the service. We had booked two rooms, but on arrival the reception person said there was only one. After an argument, and because we wanted to leave for darshan as soon as possible, we put our luggage in that room. We only got the second room after arguing again. There was no hot water for bathing and no toiletries, so we had to ask for every single thing. The service was terrible.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this stay with my parents on our way to Katra for darshan at Vaishno Devi Temple was rough. I booked two rooms through MakeMyTrip for around ₹2000. The hotel is near the main bazar, but the access road is very narrow, inconvenient if you’re driving, and there’s no parking. I’d told them we’d arrive late, around 1:30 AM. The caretaker barely responded on the phone, then switched it off, so I had to find the place by asking people nearby. He was asleep, and it took 5-10 minutes to wake him. His behavior was confusing and unprofessional. The room was average, but the bedsheets weren’t clean. Water came in jugs, and I couldn’t tell if it was filtered. There were no sealed bottles. In the morning the power went out, with no backup. If you can manage these issues, you could book, but families may be better off looking elsewhere.

I was very disappointed with the service and hospitality at Vidya Guest House. The owner was especially rude, and his conduct felt extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. It was a very bad experience.
