The hosts made the stay feel personal. Mrityunjay and Twinkle were warm and attentive, and Mrityunjay shared safari tips as well as suggesting a nearby waterfall that turned out to be a highlight. He’s also a wildlife photographer and animal rescuer, especially for dogs. The resort is about 2 km from the park, and the team took care of safari bookings smoothly. Evenings by the lake were peaceful, with bonfires and wildlife coming to drink: sambar deer, spotted deer, jackals, and civet cats. Staff said tiger roars could be heard at night. The open-air restaurant has lovely views, and our spacious AC room had the basics we needed, including hot water, temperature control, bottled water, and a wardrobe. The food was a real treat, freshly made with local ingredients. There were good vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices, and they got my request for less oil and spice just right. Taal Tiger Retreat is close to Khatia Gate and gives you a rustic, comfortable base in the jungle. I left feeling recharged and would happily return. Five stars from me.

The rooms were clean, hygienic, and carefully looked after, so we were very comfortable. The food was really good too, and the service was good. A lovely place so close to the jungle. 😊

For ₹5,500 a day with all meals included, I expected much better. I stayed at Taal Retreat, Kanha in October 2025, and found it badly maintained. The rooms smelled, the floors felt damp, and the tap water had an unpleasant odor. There seemed to be just two or three people managing everything. Most of the staff looked like teenagers and seemed to have no hospitality training. They didn't know the names of basic dishes, lacked basic etiquette, and even small requests took a long time. After our evening safari, tea didn't arrive until the owner stepped in. The food quality and taste were very poor. The rooms and service aren't worth even ₹1,500 per night. It was a horrible stay, and I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone.

The rooms could use an upgrade, but I don't regret visiting Taal Tiger Retreat. The owner and staff made the visit worthwhile, and the service and food were good.
