Aroma Homestay

Fort Cochin’s highlights were all easy to reach from this excellent location. Joseph and Elizabeth were fabulous, very helpful hosts, and the local food really added to the traditional experience. The rooms had en-suite bathrooms, AC, and a fan. We needed both because Cochin was so hot. I’d absolutely recommend this homestay.

Joseph and Elizabeth were generous, friendly, and ready to help with anything. They took amazing care of us. At Aroma home stay, our room was lovely, and everything worked properly. It was especially clean and beautiful in the bathroom. A wonderful experience, and if you’re in Cochin, I’d say this place is a must. No regrets.

I liked the traditional Kerala breakfast each morning and the good chats with the other guests. Joseph and Elizabeth were helpful and gave me advice on getting the most out of Kochi. The rooms were clean, there was always hot water, and wifi was available. You can walk to many places from the homestay, or take a rickshaw or rent a bike. It felt safe and like home, and it’s suitable for all kinds of travelers. As a solo traveler, I’d especially recommend it. The price was very reasonable for the cleanliness and service. This was my best stay in India, and I even came back at the end of my travels.

The balcony looked out onto the street, with cool sea air coming in, and my room was spacious, airy, neatly furnished, and full of sunlight. Aroma home stay is close enough to good restaurants, the beach, and town. My partner practiced yoga on the terrace in the early mornings, and we later recommended the place to tourists we met in Hampi and Goa. We promised Elizabeth and Joseph we’d return. We stayed in the second week of January 2013, and Elizabeth and Joseph made us feel so welcome. Their mother served traditionally prepared red wine, one of my favorites. I also bought a mundu like Joseph’s, and he helped me put it on, which surprised my partner. We spent hours talking with our hosts and lost track of time. I’d traveled around India for years, but had never had an experience like it. Such a beautiful place with a lovely family. Sorry this review is late, I was very busy. The streets are fairly quiet, so a front room with a balcony is a good choice.
