The staff were helpful and the decor was interesting, and the first-floor space is lovely for lunch, with a view over some of Fort Kochi’s local streets. But the food was very average. Our Biryani came out bitter and seriously inedible for some reason. They took it back and fixed it, though it still wasn’t the best. The other dishes also seemed below the quality of many other meals we’ve had in India. I don’t think I’d return.

The two young men running Rasa Hotel were excellent hosts during our three nights in Cochin. They arranged our airport transport and a very late check-in, set us up with a fantastic tuk tuk tour, and had contacts we could use elsewhere in Kerala. Just don’t pay what the drivers ask on the street! Their food was delicious and affordable too. The location worked really well, close to shops, cafes, and the waterfront. We misunderstood what we read online about the Aircon, so clarify that before booking. The ceiling fan was totally adequate for us. Be ready for brown outs, which happened at every place we stayed in Kerala. It was very good value for the money. We also recommend the Kerala Kathakali Centre down the street. They have a number of amazing programs that give genuine insight into this unique culture, and the guys at Rasa can help book tickets.

The rooms are great, and RASA HOTEL is in an easy-to-reach spot in Fort Kochi, about a five-minute walk from the beach. It’s directly opposite the house of famous Indian singer Yeshudas. He sold the property long ago, but it still carries his name. The hotel is with OYO, but complimentary breakfast wasn’t provided, and the kitchen/restaurant has permanently closed. Still, it was a great overall experience.

I stopped in at about 15:00 for a late lunch and really enjoyed it. The place was beautifully decorated and very clean. My zuchinni and mozarella wrap with iced coffee was delicious, and the staff were kind enough to share their personal recommendations for places throughout Kerala. Well done!

The place is modern, and the staff were pleasant and attentive. But the food felt like a very commercial, westernized take on simple Indian dishes. My seafood biryani was dry, with some of the rice actually crunchy. Probably not a good fit if you're used to Indian food back home.
