Hotel 233 Park Street

The hospitality was good, and the amenities were too. I liked the antique furniture and beautiful lighting, and everything was in place. My only issue was being on the ground floor, where the lack of light seemed to cause a strange musty smell.

I had to switch rooms because the toilet was stinking. The room was a good size and the lighting was fine. The furniture had an antique style but wasn’t well maintained. The hotel is in a prime location, and the rooms are good otherwise.

The rooms were clean and most things were tolerable, but I found the water filter in a toilet. That seems like an ecoli risk. No matter how good the place might be, this would put me off for hygiene and health reasons. The staff’s lax attitude was even more disappointing. My advice is to stay away.

Old Kolkata is part of the experience here, and they provide pamphlets or pages with information about it. The lighting and brown furniture have an old-time feel, while details like the bed’s “Poshari”, beautiful curtains that work as mosquito nets, are thoughtful. Hotel 233 Park Street has antique character, and the staff were very hospitable. Consider staying if you like places with old world charm.
