OYO Flagship 81405 Downtown Inn

I booked and paid online, but when I arrived the staff said they couldn’t give me the room at that price and wanted to charge more. After we talked for a long time, they eventually gave me a room they chose, about 30 minutes later.

The hotel is in a good location, and the room had nice interiors and a spacious attached bathroom. The rooms themselves were nice too, but the towels had already been used, so we had to ask for fresh ones. Service was slow as well. It could take close to 90 minutes for an order to reach the room, and sometimes we had to call and remind them.

The staff were really nice, and housekeeping deserves credit for keeping the rooms clean. We had an AC problem in our room, but when we told them, they moved us to another room right away. There’s a cafe and a store on the ground floor. We had a good stay and would choose this place again.

I came to Kolkata for academic work and needed a room for four nights. Oyo showed several nearby options with big discounts, so I figured a room listed at 800-900 a night after the offer, supposedly down from 3000-4000, would be reasonable. I booked a day ahead, but when I arrived the hotel name didn’t match what I’d booked. I called the hotel repeatedly and got no answer. The Oyo manager kept me waiting on the phone for 10 minutes, then disconnected without helping. I eventually found the place, where the manager said he wouldn’t accept Oyo bookings and told me to book directly at a higher price. He also said there was no other hotel in that building, so I paid the higher rate. The room, bedsheets, blanket, and towel were all in terrible shape. Does Oyo actually audit hotels before listing them?
