OYO 14487 Hotel Stay Inn

The room itself was good, but the shower in the one assigned to us didn't work, which brought my rating down to 3 stars instead of 5. Hotel Stay Inn's management should check the facilities regularly and keep up with maintenance.

The staff were courteous and easy to deal with, and the room service was good. Wi-Fi worked well, and the room had a comfortable bed, proper lighting, and a clean, maintained bathroom. I found it a comfortable stay, suitable for families, business visitors, or groups. Getting there can be awkward, especially alone at night. The hotel is down a poorly lit alley, and when I visited, construction at the front meant the entrance was around the back. You also have to climb one floor to reach the lobby. If you're alone, especially at night, ask to be dropped right outside and have the lobby send someone to help with your luggage. The main road has practical shops, including a pharmacy, hospital, Reliance Fresh, and small supermarkets. It's not a fancy shopping area, but it has what you need.

The ground-floor room I stayed in during June 2019 had no windows or ventilation, and it gave off a strange, negative feeling. It smelled of smoke, which says plenty about the upkeep. The room wasn't maintained properly, and the washroom had issues too. I hope they address this.

The room they offered after I arrived was a dirty, expensive non-AC one. I turned it down, and they tried to mislead me and behave badly. Online, they advertise clean AC rooms at very low prices, but then deny the rooms booked online when guests show up. When I called customer care, the property manager wouldn't even speak with them. This was the worst hotel in Kolkata for me.
