OYO 16495 Kolkata Inn

The rooms are spacious, the staff are well behaved, and the place feels homely. I enjoyed the food too. It was tasty, though each item was expensive. Booking through MakeMyTrip got me a discount; otherwise, the rates seem high for these rooms.

This was the worst hotel stay I've had, in Kolkata or elsewhere. The rooms were dirty, staff behavior was poor, and I didn't feel it was safe for girls. At check-in, the receptionist demanded more than the amount shown in the app and wouldn't let us in. We waited around 45 minutes while it was sorted out. Staff threatened that we had to give a five-star rating or leave and find another hotel. I had paid through the OYO app, but the property owner called, spoke rudely, and asked why I'd paid online. The receptionist also insisted I give five stars at checkout. I switched off my phone then so I could leave a poor rating. I might have argued and made a scene, but I was with a girl and was worried about our safety there. After I rated them poorly in the OYO app, the owner and staff called me more than 15 times. They threatened to publish my details and send a letter to the girl's house, and they insulted and harassed us. I told them to do what they wanted, but they kept threatening us. I urge people not to book this property. I'm not sure what OYO is doing about it.

It's close to the Salt Lake Sector 5 IT sector, with a Dhaba right beside the residence. The rooms and bathroom were clean, and there's a geyser, TV, free internet, towels, and soap. It's couple friendly and a good place to stay.

The first-floor rooms are decent, but the ground-floor ones aren't very good. There seem to be payment problems with OYO, and they often cancel prepaid OYO bookings. We had a really hard time because of that 😏
