OYO 3623 Hotel South Fern

The staff were indifferent and unfriendly when I raised concerns, and the room showed serious neglect. There were broken fixtures, termites and cockroaches, and dirty sheets and blankets. The maintenance problems seemed to extend throughout Hotel South o fern. For the price, I expected much better. I wouldn't recommend it, and hope management takes feedback seriously, improves the property, and trains staff to treat guests better. My stay was thoroughly disappointing.

The bed was broken, and the staff acted as though guests were there to serve them. We were made to leave by 11 a.m., with a hefty charge threatened for even one minute past checkout. This was the dirtiest, most uncomfortable place I've ever visited. They seemed interested only in getting paid, and once they had the money, their responsibility was over. Avoid it. If you still come, I wouldn't pay more than 500 per room.

My first visit felt welcoming, but the second was a very different experience. OYO Rooms showed rooms for three people, yet the staff refused to let us check in, saying they had no accommodation for three. They even seemed keen to make fun of us, which made the stay feel like a setup for harassment. The rest seemed fine, though OYO Rooms priced a 20-rupee breakfast at 100 bucks. Great team, indeed.

When I visited in Oct 2023, the manager and staff were extremely rude and couldn't handle customers properly. It made me wonder whether the owner cares about how Hotel southfern is being run. Booking through OYO seemed especially risky, though the staff's poor treatment could be an issue regardless of where you book. One of my worst hotel experiences in Kolkata. Think carefully before booking, and avoid this place.
