OYO 4219 Ratnakar Residency

The staff were helpful and behaved well, and the location was good. That’s why I’m giving it three stars. Otherwise, I’d rate it two. The room was old, very small and smelly. The bed was uncomfortable, the linens were dirty, and the blanket was filthy. The AC didn’t work, and there were no breakfast options. I expect at least some hospitality when I book an OYO, and that was largely missing here.

I found this place on trivago for an amazing price of 870 rs, and it was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. It’s a really quiet spot, with a lovely, clean room and a painting on the wall. The bed was made nicely, and the sheets were fresh and pressed. Hot water was available around the clock, and the staff were excellent in every way. After arriving in Kolkata, I stayed at several hotels that weren’t worth the money. The toilets and rooms weren’t clean, waste wasn’t recycled, and customer management was poor. I’ve decided to stay here whenever I come to Kolkata. Thank you for the good service and memories.

The staff were gentle and very helpful, and the AC worked fine. But I had to stay here after booking a different hotel, and the room didn’t feel worth the money. The address was confusing and probably wrong, and the chaotic surroundings made it hard to explain directions to an Uber driver. I found a bug on the bedsheet, and the TV was hopeless. Don’t bother turning it on. This place has needed improvement for a long time.

The booking situation was awful. They cancelled my original booking without asking, which was for around 1100, then made a new booking for the same room at 1600. The OYO person in charge of the property wasn’t cooperative either. I’d booked a 4x suite, but the receptionist gave me a saver x room instead. Neither the AC nor the TV worked. The bathroom taps were broken, the flush didn’t work, and there was no safety or privacy, with a broken bathroom window that let outsiders peep in. The lift barely worked at times. The staff were indecent and uncooperative, and the room pictures were misleading. The amenities weren’t usable. If negative ratings were possible, I’d give it -100. After staying here, I can’t believe anyone would give it more than one star, and I think the positive reviews must be paid for.
