OYO 87280 Hotel Grand Eden

I asked for a refund as soon as I saw the room, hoping to find somewhere else, but they refused, so I ended up staying a week. The place is in a dark, shady corner that didn’t feel safe at night. The rooms were filthy and smelled awful, and the sheets, blankets, and pillowcases were very dirty with cigarette holes in them. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I’d sleep on the street before coming back.

I booked four days but left after one night. The receptionist boys, including Raja, were very rude. There were always 3 to 4 Chapri/Lafanga boys at reception. The room was extremely dirty, with used condoms packed up and cigarette ash around, and the bed, pillow cover, and kambal were filthy. They wouldn’t provide basics like water. It felt very risky to stay there. They asked for extra money on arrival and said they wouldn’t let me in without it. Please don’t visit.

We ended up at Hotel Grand Eden, Kolkata, after our original pet-friendly hotel, which cost around ₹3,000, refused check-in because OYO hadn’t confirmed availability. We were stuck in the heat and spent 1.5 hours calling OYO support. The agents chewed gutka, laughed, spoke in accents we couldn’t understand, and did nothing to fix it. They neither refunded us nor found a decent alternative, just sent us here. We’d been told this place was pet-friendly, but it wasn’t fit for animals. It was full of young couples who clearly weren’t there for a comfortable stay. If that’s the environment they want, they shouldn’t mislead guests into thinking it’s a legitimate hotel. The room was filthy, with stained sheets, a leaking washroom, and a terrible stench. When we complained about the stains, management casually said, “We wash them in a machine; what else can we do?” The second room they showed us had unflushed human waste in the toilet, and the flush didn’t work. We booked on OYO for ₹774 but paid ₹1,300, including a pet charge despite the hotel advertising itself as pet-friendly. Agoda is now selling rooms for ₹161, which says a lot about the quality. If you care about hygiene, safety, and basic human decency, stay away. Booking through OYO may also leave you regretting the customer service.

The staff were unprofessional, and OYO support was disappointing. I booked two rooms and paid ₹1108 online through the OYO app, but when I arrived, the hotel refused check-in unless I paid another ₹1000. Support didn’t help after two hours of waiting and several calls. The hotel staff then pressured me into paying ₹300 more, yet gave me only one room instead of two. I agreed because I felt I had no choice for safety. After I checked in, they even made me share the OTP to confirm the stay. It felt like a scam.
