Highland Hotels

We only came to Highland Hotel and Resorts, Kotarakkara for a meal, and the clean, welcoming setting was a nice surprise. The vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali meals were fresh, full of flavor and very satisfying. Service was quick and polite, even though we weren’t staying overnight. I’d happily stop in for food again.

The location is convenient for visiting the mahaganpati temple, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I called almost a month before our Nov 22 visit to book, then confirmed about three weeks ahead. We were quoted 2730 including taxes and told no advance was needed. At arrival, the receptionist denied that the booking had been recorded, even after I checked my call history. She kept asking if we were there for a function and got into unnecessary details. She seemed focused on a nearby marriage function, which we thought was still okay. We were asked for 3000 upfront, and assumed the room would still be 2730, with any restaurant charges perhaps covered by the advance. We ordered tea and snacks that day, then breakfast the next morning. The idlis were cold, possibly left over from the marriage function, and idli was the only option. It felt like other guests didn’t matter. The bedsheets smelled rusty, and the AC remote only worked partly. At checkout we had to pay the restaurant charges separately, and the room rent came to 2960. They gave no bill, saying there was a network error. The extra amount went to a QR code the receptionist showed us, not the hotel’s own one.

The room was good, but service was really poor. Reception and room service were never available, and the restaurant food was very bad. I highly wouldn’t recommend it.

I went to their BAR recently, and it was in terrible shape. The local bar was like tasmac(tamilnadu), unhygienic, with awful service. The AC bar was clean, but there was nobody there except a staff member. I ordered a beer and asked for the food menu, only to be told they had free snacks and no food at all that evening. This used to be a 2-star or 3-star hotel, but now the condition is really pathetic.
