Mahasu House

We came away from Mahasu House with its views, quiet, and gracious hospitality still in our minds. The cuisine was a lovely surprise, with meals made carefully from local produce, and the staff’s attention, promptness, and warmth made us feel like cherished members of the Mahasu family. Deep Narain and Narender deserve a heartfelt shout-out. They anticipated what we needed without being intrusive, and were always smiling. In serene Mashobra, Mahasu House brings together understated luxury, soulful charm, and warm hospitality. From arrival, the peaceful, elegant feel stood out. The interiors have timeless wooden accents, cozy fireplaces, and vintage decor that felt like coming home in a dreamier place. It’s a retreat for the soul, and we can’t wait to return.

The staff were accommodating, prompt, and humble. Deepram, Narendra, and the rest of the team made our stay memorable, and the freshly prepared meals were delicious. Be sure to try the local cuisine. Mahasu House is pure bliss, with mesmerizing views from the property. The rooms are spacious and tastefully done, with postcard views. The living room and dining hall have old-school charm, and the owners have added a personal touch throughout. We’d visit again.

We had a big family get-together at Mahasu House in February 2025, with ages from 4 to 75. The house is about an hour’s drive from Shimla, in a beautiful spot away from the crowds and bustle. It felt truly like home away from home. The staff were always courteous, somehow invisible yet present whenever needed. The outside area has two levels, and they lit a big bonfire for the birthday celebrations overlooking the valley. The grand living room has old-school vibes, and we spent a lot of good family time there with drinks, games, and music. There are 7 comfortable, spacious rooms with heating. The bathrooms are heated too, decently spacious, and have 24-hour hot water. The dining room seats 12 comfortably, and they serve scrumptious home-cooked meals until you’re full. Food was always fresh and catered to everyone’s requests, from the 4-year-old to the 75-year-old. They even packed small snacks for the kids for the road. The location has a beautiful valley view with Himalayan ranges in the background, and there’s a comfortable 2 km walk down to the hill Village. We drove to Himachal and took road trips each day, leaving mid-morning and returning in the early evening to warm soups and scrumptious snacks. By car, Shimla is 1 hour away, Narkanda 2.5 hours, Tattapani 1.5-2 hours, Kufri 45 minutes, and Chail 1.5 hours. Highly recommend it for a big family gathering.

I had a great weekend here with my family and was thrilled by the natural sights. The luxury rooms have plenty of facilities, and the hotel management, staff, and services are praiseworthy. It was a pleasant experience being here.
