Kumarakom Park Resort

The property is good, but our room was full of mosquitoes. There were hardly any guests, so breakfast wasn't offered as a buffet. Even the menu had very few dishes available.

Kumarakom Park, formerly Ashirvad Kumarakom, has a relaxing atmosphere and a striking setting over Vembanad Lake. It's also well placed for exploring: Bay Island Driftwood Museum is within walking distance, and Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and Thazhathangady Juma Mosque are close by. The renovated bar area looks stylish, and the hotel clearly has potential. I didn't stay in the rooms this time, so can't comment on them. The location and potential get 5/5 from me, but service and food were 3/5 and need real improvement to match the setting. With better service and cuisine, this could become a real gem.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the reception was nicely arranged. It worked well for a get-together with friends, and there's a pool to enjoy, though there isn't a lake view. The rooms could use some upgrades and facilities like a hair dryer, coffee maker, and hot water kettle. More regular lighting would help too, rather than relying on show lights.

The rooms were okay, but the rest of the stay was a deal-breaker for me. The water was muddy and salty when I went to shower. Although we'd booked in advance, the rooms weren't ready until noon, so I had to wait two hours in the lobby, which had no fan and was very sweaty. The place is advertised as four star, yet even the lobby wasn't air-conditioned. This place felt like a fraud. Better keep away.
