There was little to make the room comfortable: no white lighting, just a dim yellow bulb, and even basic toiletries like a toothbrush and toothpaste weren’t supplied. The bed was very hard, the towels rough and seemed old, and the food was only okay. The hotel was basic, with hardly any amenities, at the far end of the area, which felt isolated and uncomfortable. When we checked in around 7 pm there were no other guests, and the place felt somewhat scary. We felt a bit relieved when another group arrived later, but the overall vibe still wasn’t good. I had a bad experience and wouldn’t stay here again.

Periyar Nest Resort in Thekkady had a peaceful atmosphere and very kind, helpful staff who were always ready to assist with a smile. There was a bit of a language issue with Hindi and English, but they did their best to communicate and make us comfortable. The food was average, about 3 out of 5. A good experience overall, mainly thanks to the hospitality.

We were on a college study tour, and the rooms were just okay. There was no warm water in the washroom during winter. The food was so bad that almost 80% of our students got food poisoning, with vomiting and stomach aches, and we had to rush to the hospital late the next night. A very bad experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this resort.

We arrived at 11pm in 13 degrees weather and there was no hot water. Nobody told us it was only available at 8am, so we all had to bathe in freezing water. The door locks didn’t work either. Getting to the hotel by bus with a large group was difficult, and it’s very inaccessible, so there was a lot of walking. Staff were rude and unhelpful. We were there as a large group, and at least half of us got food poisoning badly enough to be rushed to the hospital. The others stayed safe by stopping eating the food, which was literally inedible. I’m giving one star only because I can’t give zero.

The rooms were old and in poor shape, with no hot water, kettle, or intercom, and the location is in an interior village. One person was handling everything, though he was supportive. Breakfast was awful and smelled bad, and the restaurant was unhygienic and had a terrible smell. Don’t visit or recommend it, even for free.
