Delight Royal Lachen

We were nine people and had a really good stay at the Delight. The outside of the building looks lovely, and the rooms are spacious with good facilities for such a remote spot. Service was quick, and the staff did their best to keep us comfortable. The food was the highlight. We liked dinner so much that after sightseeing we returned for lunch too.

The dinner buffet costs Rs. 250 per person, with lots of well-cooked items. I doubt you’ll find better value for a buffet anywhere in this state. The food is pure vegetarian, and it’s excellent. We had a spacious, fully carpeted triple-sharing room, though the third bed is only medium-sized and might not suit a full-grown adult. The room was well kept, the toilet clean, and the blankets and towels fresh. There’s also a wardrobe, TV, and geyser.

Dinner was fresh and very good, with rotis, daal, mixed veg subzi, matar paneer, sewai halwa, salad and pickle. The staff were cordial and let us refill our bottles whenever we needed. Mr.Pintu manages things very efficiently. We hadn’t expected a remote place like Lachen to give us such a nice stay, but Delight Royal Lachen really impressed us with its service and amenities. The rooms were clean, with plenty of warm blankets, and the bathroom was spotless with hot water.

The power had been cut by a government official because the electricity bill hadn’t been paid. They kept the genset running for a while, but with the temperature at 0 degree, we were waiting for hot water and couldn’t use the geyser or heater. I was very disappointed with the management. The staff were friendly and helpful, though, and the rooms were large, good, and clean. The food was really amazing.
