Hotel Chonjor Residency

The food was quite good, with plenty of vegetarian choices. I think they may have non-vegetarian dishes too, but I’m not certain. The hotel is about 500 meters uphill from one of Leh’s main markets, so the walk could be tiring for some. Rooms are spacious and the staff are generally nice. I did miss having tea or coffee in the room, though it wasn’t a major issue. A 4/5 stay for me.

The view from the third floor was pretty good, and the location worked well for me. There’s a convenience store nearby and Leh market is an 8-10 minute walk uphill. Staff were friendly and did their best to help with requests, and the room was clean. The bed sagged a little, so it might not suit someone with back problems. Wi-Fi also rarely reached our third-floor room. Thanks to the Chonjor team for making the stay pleasant.

We came with my extended family, ten people in all, and stayed for three nights in May 2023. The hospitality was the best I’ve experienced in all my travels around India, and even a five-star hotel hasn’t matched it for me. Every staff member was kind and helpful. The place was clean, and the food and standards were excellent too. I’d recommend it to anyone I know visiting Leh.

Right in the city center, and a good budget option. The rooms are small, but tidy and clean. It works well for an overnight stay. For several days, I’d look at nearby places instead, and fitting a family with kids into one room could be difficult.
