The quiet setting in Santi was just what I wanted after long days sightseeing, and Leh market is still only about 10 minutes away. I spent three days at Santi Nest and loved waking up to the snow covered peaks from my balcony. The room was clean, roomy, and cozy, and it worked perfectly, which really matters in Leh. Staff were polite and quick to help, including arranging a taxi to Pangong and sharing useful local tips. Check-in was easy. Meals had a home cooked feel; the chicken curry and sweet dishes were excellent, while breakfast was simple but filling.

We were there on 11-12th April 2026, booked through our tour operator for my wife and me. Mr. Gloilson welcomed us with a scarf and a drink, and our bags were brought up to a spacious, bright, clean room with a double bed. The bathroom was tidy and had the accessories we needed. When the taps had a hot water problem, Mr. Gloilson himself came to sort it out straight away. It was between -3C and -11C outside according to Google. The room has central heating on a schedule set by management, so coming from warm Navi Mumbai, I still needed to keep some layers on. They brought hot water bottles when we asked, which made sleeping more comfortable. OOKLA showed WiFi at around 10-15 Mbs. Our included dinner and breakfast tasted good, and the dining hall is very large. There was no free tea, coffee, milk, or sugar in the room. Mr Deepak and Subodh took good care of us in the dining area.

The breakfast buffet was my favorite part of the day, with Indian and continental choices, and the chef was happy to consider custom requests. Dinner was tasty too. The peaceful setting and the Himalayas in the window each morning made the stay especially pleasant. After our long journey, Mr Gyalsten and his team greeted us with a welcome drink and helped with our bags and room. We stayed five nights. The room was bright and well ventilated, with a central heater, and the bathroom was spacious, very clean, and had hot water around the clock. An extra bed arrived and was set up promptly. Whenever we needed transport, the team arranged a taxi or bikes without hesitation. We made friends with other travelers and with Mr. Gyalsten, and we'd definitely visit again.

We’ve stayed at Shanti Nest two years running and already hope to come back next year. Big congratulations to Stanzin on becoming manager, and thank you all for making us feel welcome again. The staff are friendly, smiling, and ready to help, from reception and bell staff to the restaurant team. We especially like sitting outside in the fresh air, sometimes with a beer and sometimes with Kahwa tea. There’s greenery all around, including lovely apple trees. We haven’t been there at harvest time, but the staff kindly picked apples for us to try. The hotel zone room was comfortable and well equipped. It didn’t have a hairdryer, but I didn’t need one. There can be a little dust or tiny insects by the curtains, though it was no big deal. This year was warmer than last, so we opened the windows for airflow. I’ve also officially switched from showering to using the traditional water dipper for a bath, much more fun lolz. Breakfast isn’t huge, but it’s delicious. I still remember last year’s salted boiled rice, so good. This year it was chicken boiled rice, which some people may prefer. Most dishes are local style, with a few Western choices like bread, jam, and cereal. Fresh fruit and vegetables came with every meal. Desserts were always available, though some are very sweet, so try a little first :D

The rooms were huge and very clean, and the whole hotel was quiet and tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful, and both dinner and breakfast were tasty with plenty of variety. I only wish they offered more drinks, maybe soft drinks and beer, with meals or in the evenings.
