The Gawaling Ladakh

A spacious, clean room and a varied breakfast buffet were among the things I liked, and the restaurant served delicious food. The location was handy for the major attractions. From check-in to check-out, everything went smoothly and professionally. The staff were quick to respond, helpful, and always smiling, and small touches like complimentary refreshments and a warm welcome made the stay feel special. I felt at home and would happily recommend the hotel to friends and family. I'd definitely stay again.

The location worked really well, close to the main attractions but still quiet. I had a lovely stay: the rooms were roomy, clean, and kept in good shape, and the food had lots of choice and tasted great. Staff were quick and friendly. The WiFi was slow, though, and could use improvement.

For what we paid, this felt like a two-star stay, not the four stars advertised. The room didn’t match the website photos and was missing several small things, including a sofa. There were also quality issues throughout. Breakfast was a struggle. The chef didn’t know how to make porridge, and special requests seemed to burden the staff. We eat without onion and garlic, and they had a hard time accommodating that. There was only white bread, and the fruit seemed to be from the day before. We got two water bottles in the room; when we asked for more, we were told they were all being used by other rooms and ours could be refilled once empty. A couple of stray dogs inside the premises came at us. They didn’t bite, but staff seemed indifferent and said the dogs might belong to the owner. Staff also seemed poorly trained, and service quality fell short in several areas. I’d spend a little extra for a better property.

Ashwani was consistently helpful whenever we needed something, and we felt safe and well cared for. The rooms were spacious and very clean. A great hotel, and I’d recommend it to anyone travelling to Ladakh.
