Kumar Resort by Turtle, Lonavala

The best part for us was that my kids, spouse, mother, and I still got to enjoy some of the water activities that were open. But we had to make the best of the situation ourselves, rather than getting the great family resort stay we expected. Several water park slides were closed, with no advance notice, and the water park staff seemed unprofessional. For families booking for those facilities, that matters. We were a family of five, three adults and two kids including a toddler, staying for two nights. Despite traveling with children and a senior citizen, check-in was almost three hours late, which was frustrating after a long drive. We had booked a Family Suite and discussed our expectations beforehand, but got a room in the old wing that felt dated and disappointing. The interiors and fittings were nowhere near what we expected for the price. Breakfast was extremely ordinary and felt like a checkbox item. The resort also seemed seriously understaffed, with slow responses, poor coordination, and a lack of professionalism. If you're considering Kumar Resort as a family, I'd strongly recommend researching alternatives before booking.

The pool area was full of dirt and algae, and the water didn't look clean at all. It seemed they don't change it regularly. The slides were worn out too. On our one-day visit, service was much worse than I expected. The receptionists were rude and arrogant, didn't coordinate, and acted with an attitude instead of being polite. Hygiene was a problem throughout. The bathroom smelled awful as soon as we entered, and the balcony was so dirty I couldn't even stand outside. The bedsheets smelled gross, all the toiletries were old and broken, and the hair dryer didn't work properly. When we called staff to clean the room, they used phenyl that smelled bad. A bad experience overall. I recommend not visiting, there are much better resorts than this.

We were given Room No. 307 for two days, and even the room lock wasn't working properly. We complained repeatedly, but nothing was properly done. Reception never answered our calls, housekeeping kept avoiding requests, and the service overall was extremely poor. The advertised play zone for kids wasn't really available, the swimming pool was dirty and poorly maintained, and indoor games weren't operational during our stay. Breakfast was a letdown too, with very few low-quality options. The towels were visibly unclean, as shown in the photos I attached, and despite telling the staff, we weren't given replacements. When we asked for a discount or refund for the inconvenience, we were told again that the manager was “not available.” That seemed to be the standard excuse for everything. Very disappointing at Kumar Resort by Turtle, Lonavala. The management felt highly unprofessional, maintenance was poor, and customer service was terrible. Think twice, or even three times, before booking. It was not worth the money. I'd strongly advise others not to spend their hard-earned money here. The 1 star is only because there's no option for 0.

I stayed in the premium suite with Balcony, and the location is in a market area with traffic coming from all four sides. The lady at reception was rude when I complained. They checked us in late, then used cheap language about charging extra for late checkout even if it's just 1/2 hour. Avoid at all costs! Service was terrible. Water bottles, clearing in-room dining, and replacing a broken electric kettle each took an hour. After 11:30 pm, reception wouldn't pick up the phone. Some things were missing too, including a hair dryer, remote batteries, water bottles, and towels. The water park and slides were old and worn out. Floats would stop inside the slide tunnel, and the lifeguard and water park staff were locals with 0 safety knowledge. The bath tub in the room was dirty, and we had to call housekeeping to clean it again after entering. The shampoo, shower gel, and handwash dispensers were old and stiff, needing strong forearms to press and release. The quality of all three was very cheap for an executive suite room.
