Hotel Sabareesh Park

We arrived in Madurai from Hyderabad for darshan and went to this hotel around 10 pm. We asked for 3 deluxe rooms, priced at Rs. 3350/- each, and agreed. Then at check-in, the receptionist asked for Rs. 700/- for our 9-year-old child. I asked if there was a written rule for charging that amount for a child of 9. He had no answer and argued with us. He didn’t seem to know the hotel rules. We decided not to stay and found a better hotel at a better price. Because of the receptionist’s negligence, the owner lost around Rs. 10,000 in business. My suggestion to the owner: hire good reception staff. They can help improve the business.

We found the stay very comfortable, and the hotel is close to Meenakshi Amman temple, with markets and ready-to-go restaurants nearby. The rooms were very good. Breakfast is served, but it’s prepared outside and brought in; it’s South Indian only, with no tea or coffee. I booked it for a family trip to visit the temple. If you’re in Madurai, try Jigarthanda and rose milk.

There’s ample car parking, and Meenakshi amman koil and the market areas are very close. The rooms were neat and clean, with hot water kettles provided. It’s also an easy 5-minute walk to madurai junction and periyar bus stand. Complimentary breakfast is available. It was a comfortable, convenient stay. Tea bags and coffee powder in the rooms would make things easier. A decent place to stay.

The staff didn’t care about complaints and wouldn’t refund us. The property was filthy and disgusting, with bad smells from both the beds and the room. They offered only normal water, no cold water. The AC didn’t work, and the wash basin was clogged. The pictures are extremely misleading. The rooms may look decent online, but they aren’t worth the money in person. Definitely not recommended.
