The wow factor was missing, though the residency is very near Teppakulam and its impressive appearance. We were given Room No 211 on the second floor, with lift access. The room was OK, but the walls need fresh paint. It has central air conditioning controlled by a wall-mounted remote, a TV with Tamil channels above 750, and a chip-embedded carton to open the door. But there’s no way to lock the room from inside, which felt creepy. A latch is really needed so guests can sleep assured. The bathroom also needs repainting, the sink is tiny, and the exhaust fan opens into a closed space and doesn’t work. Hot water is centrally operated, so if you want it in the early hours, you have to ask reception to switch it on. Room service is available by dialling 9, and the residency pamphlet lists its tariffs and facilities. I was there for my elder sister’s family wedding at AVKC Kalyana Mahal, near Vandiyur Maraiamman Teppakulam Police Station, and the rooms had been arranged for us. Teppakulam is on Kamarajar Road. I was delighted to see it brimful with clean blue water. Boat services are available for a nominal amount, and people were resting along the banks. In the evenings, you can get Madurai Jigarthanda or Mullu Murungai Keerai Vadai at the 'Thallu Vandi Kadais' beside the Teppakulam.

The location is awful, and the rooms are dirty. There’s no car parking, room service, or toiletries. One of the worst hotels. Never choose this place for a stay.

The place used to be good, but it needs maintenance now. My room was so bad that I slept on the floor. There were lots of bugs on the bed, the bathroom was dirty and poorly maintained, and the linens and duvets had dirt stains. The basin looked poor before I even used it. The curtains were smaller than the windows 😂. They don’t provide bath kits, and I had to pay for a tooth kit and call multiple times to get a bath towel. There’s no extra latch on the door, so anyone with a smart key can open the room, which didn’t feel safe. They don’t take cards and didn’t give a proper invoice. I checked in at midnight and checked out early in the morning, so I just had to manage. There are better hotels nearby. This place is suitable only for coming with friends, having drinks for a few hours, then leaving.

You’ll find plenty of share autos between kilavasal and the hotel, and buses are available too. Krishnan cafe, Amma mess, and hotel sabaries are nearby. It was a good stay near theppakulam, though don’t expect a restaurant in the hotel.
