OYO Flagship 17297 Kathir Palace

The hotel's location near the temple's west gate is convenient, but it doesn't make up for the poor upkeep and lack of basic facilities. I wouldn't recommend Hotel Karthir Palace to travelers, especially people coming from far away like Mumbai to visit Meenakshi Amman Temple. In my experience, other places farther from the temple may offer a better stay for similar money, since few hotels around here seem to provide good value. The property is rated 3 stars on Google, so I expected a certain standard, but my recent stay was a major disappointment. Management should address these problems and improve the guest experience to live up to that rating. We paid ₹4,500 for two nights, which felt unjustifiable for a room in this condition. It seemed the hotel was using its proximity to Meenakshi Amman Temple and high demand on rush days or weekends to charge too much. There wasn't even a complimentary water bottle. The only socket that worked was in the bathroom, and we had to use it to charge our devices. The room sockets didn't work, the TV was out of order, the blanket was torn, and the room was untidy with a noticeable bad smell. In the bathroom, the flush didn't work, it wasn't clean, and the geyser was out of order, so a comfortable stay wasn't possible.

The rooms are okay, but the washrooms need maintenance and the TV didn't work. The price is high for the service. Parking is difficult too, with reverse parking only in the basement and room for just three cars at most.

The hotel's promises weren't reflected in what I found. Its fitness center was outdated and poorly maintained, and service at the restaurant was slow with subpar food. Cleanliness was also a serious problem. The sheets were stained, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly, and the whole room smelled musty. When I raised these issues, it took repeated calls and hours before anyone responded. Staff were dismissive and didn't seem willing to resolve things promptly. Even check-in was a struggle. I had a reservation but waited in line a long time before anyone acknowledged me, and the front desk staff seemed disinterested and unprofessional. Once I finally got a key, the state of the room was shocking. My stay at Hotel Kathir Palace was far from pleasant and disappointing from the moment I arrived. It didn't deliver the quality service or comfortable accommodation it promised. I'd strongly advise people considering it to look elsewhere for a more enjoyable, hassle-free stay.

The website photos look graphically edited, and although breakfast was mentioned, there was no restaurant at all. Don't expect much for the price, it wasn't worth even 800 rupees a day. There were rats, old model TVs, peeling wall plaster, and no proper ventilation or lights. The rooms weren't clean, dust was easy to feel under bare feet, and we had to clean the wardrobes ourselves before putting our things in them.
