The rooms were comfortable and reasonably well kept, which is why I’m giving even one star. Beyond that, the service and follow-through were deeply disappointing. We weren’t told at booking that breakfast was included, even though we had to leave at 5:00 AM and that would have mattered. The hotel said a packed breakfast would be ready by 4:30 AM, and that promise helped us decide to stay. At checkout, there was no breakfast prepared and no meaningful explanation. Dinner in the room was far below expectations for a hotel in this category. At the entrance, the security guard seemed uninterested in helping guests and wouldn’t even open the door while sitting idle. Good rooms can’t make up for broken promises and such poor basic hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Check-in with Nitin at the front desk was very pleasant. He and the rest of the staff were friendly, attentive, and courteous, and everyone made an effort to give guests a good experience. The staff hospitality was exceptional, the rooms were clean and well maintained, and laundry service was prompt. I had a very good stay.

Vishwa from the hospitality department served us a hot, freshly made breakfast at 7 AM, though they normally start at 7:30. That made our onward journey much easier, thanks to him. The room was a decent size, and the vintage furniture made it look lovely. After all the walking at Meenakshi Amman temple, getting to use a massage chair was a nice bonus. I had a great stay.

The traditional interiors are clean and give the place a lovely South Indian feel. Service was quick and efficient, and the restaurant team was dedicated; the food was delicious. The in-room massage chair is a real game-changer. I’ve never come across that facility at another hotel. I’m a tour manager who’s stayed in 300+ hotels in India and abroad, and Royal Court is honestly one of my personal favourites. If you’re visiting Madurai, I highly recommend it. I’m sure it won’t disappoint.

The location is a big plus, right opposite the railway station and easy to reach on foot. We had a clean, comfortable, well-maintained room with the essential amenities, and the staff were polite, responsive, and professional. Mr. Jeeva helped with booking and coordination, and Mr. Abdul from housekeeping left a beautiful towel swan in our room while we were out. It was a small gesture that made the stay memorable. The complimentary massage chair was another welcome bonus after a long travel day. Neat rooms, thoughtful service, and good value for money. Highly recommended near the station.
