Matru Iccha Bunglow

A peaceful place to relax, with friendly staff and a bungalow surrounded by farmland. The sunset views were great. One of my favorite stays in Maharashtra.

The simple Maharashtrian food was a real highlight, and Mr. Shivaji Umbharkar made our family get-together feel warm and welcoming. We spent two nights at Matru-Iccha and all had a wonderful time. It’s a peaceful place for anyone looking to step away from a chaotic life and find a little quiet. We’d love to come back.

Seeing all those bright red berries in the strawberry garden was a treat. The caretakers explained how they grow the strawberries, so the visit was both fun and informative. Ajay Thakurdesai’s warm hospitality made it even better. I loved the service. The staff are awesome and so good.

The first time we came to Matru-Icha was good enough to make me return, and I’m already thinking about another visit. The mountain view from this farmhouse bungalow is extraordinary, and it feels wonderfully calm. They grow vegetables and strawberries right on the property, and you can buy them too. Shivaji, the caretaker, is a great cook and manager. Our rooms were clean, and bonfires and barbeques are available if requested. We had barbeque on both visits, and sitting around the bonfire with family and friends was a lovely experience. The market is only about 5 kilometers away, so you can get back to the bustle if you want, then return to the quiet in a few minutes. The place is cost effective, with good food, a lovely setting, and very nice hospitality. I hope this helps anyone planning a Mahabaleshwar visit.
