Hotel Dusk and Dawn

Our two day / 3 nights at Dusk N Dawn Hotel -Rameswaram were a complete letdown, from check-in through checkout. Nobody helped with our luggage, so after waiting nearly 15 minutes we carried it ourselves. We were told the intercom could reach reception, but it didn’t work. When we mentioned it, staff casually said it might not be charged, though it was plugged in and still dead. Room service was painfully slow: water bottles and towels each took over 30 minutes. The AC remote only switched the unit on or off, with no temperature control, and although the fan remote worked, its regulator didn’t. The bathroom jet spray had extremely high, unsafe pressure and seemed improperly installed or tested, so using it was uncomfortable and unhygienic. On the second morning, we handed over room access for cleaning, which the staff accepted. But after we returned from darshan, they said rooms aren’t cleaned unless a guest is present, contradicting what we’d agreed. Another guest in the lobby was visibly upset while waiting a long time for luggage, a sign of the poor coordination. We had to call twice and wait nearly 30 minutes again for our cleaning, towels, and water bottles. Checkout was the worst part. At 9 AM they demanded the balance payment but said the bill would come later because the manager’s shift began at 11 AM. When we asked how we could pay without seeing it, nobody answered. After we insisted, they showed a photo of the bill on a mobile phone, and then we paid. Another guest was also waiting and complaining about checkout delays. The food and the food service staff were the only positives: staff were polite, and meals were tasty. Everything else fell below acceptable standards. Agoda listed the hotel as 3-star, with a usual tariff of ₹3-7k. Because of Christmas holidays and a long weekend, we paid ₹15,000 for one basic room, yet service didn’t even feel like a 2-star hotel. There was no proper staffing structure. The receptionist covered reception, room deliveries, and cleaning support. Housekeeping staff also worked in the kitchen, served food, managed the dining area, and handled checkout billing. All that multitasking led to poor coordination, visible staff frustration, rude responses, and a complete lack of hospitality. Except for food and its staff, everything was a failure. This is the worst hotel experience of my lifetime. Strongly not recommended. Please do not book this hotel. Bharti Singh Singh Bangalore

At Hotel Dusk and Dawn, Rameshwaram, staff were polite and welcomed us with juice, the only good part of our stay. We found hair in an idly, an unacceptable hygiene issue that left us with no confidence in the food. Breakfast was also poor, with no proper menu and even basic items like bread and butter missing, especially disappointing with kids staying there. Our room was full of mosquitoes, making sleep uncomfortable and suggesting pest control was lacking. For the high room tariff, cleanliness, food quality, and management were all terrible. I found it overpriced and a poor choice for families, and strongly advise others to avoid it.

Chef Mr. Pandian and his team were welcoming, and breakfast was mouth-watering, with authentic South Indian flavors. The rooms were neat and clean too, making for a very good stay. Highly recommended, especially for families.

The place was very understaffed, and employees were rude. Dinner service took two hours to finish. We ordered extra beds at 10pm, but they arrived at 11:45pm only after we pushed them to deliver faster. Rooms weren’t supplied with basic necessities like water. Not worth the money.
