The rooms offered a sea view, which was one good thing about the property, but the high price didn’t feel justified. In rooms 101 and 108, water dripped from the AC, the telephone didn’t work, and the tap ran painfully slowly. There was no water-heater kettle. The food was average, though the portions were good.

The peaceful surroundings, vintage feel and closeness to the beach were the best parts. If you want a quiet beachside break away from Mandarmoni’s party crowd, I’d recommend staying a day or two. The wooden-paneled doors and windows give the resort a vintage style, and our rooms were clean with the beds arranged well. We booked one four-bed room and one two-bed room for six people. Each double-bed room came with 1 litre of complimentary water per day, and the four-bed room got 2 litres. Breakfast was complimentary but not buffet style, with a few choices: Luchi-Sabji, four pieces with extra pieces charged, Mix Vegetable Masala Maggi, or four pieces of Bread-Butter. The taste was average. Morning tea and boiled eggs were included too. There are several problems management should address. The approach road is muddy, which could be dangerous in the rainy season. Getting to the beach is risky: there’s no proper path, so guests have to cross a sloping concrete structure covered in slippery algae and jump over boulders. The seating platform by the beach is about five feet high and has no railing, making it unsafe for children. Its asbestos roof gives shade, but rain gets through the gaps and you’ll get wet sitting there during rain. The garden is beautiful but poorly maintained and needs a professional gardener. Water pressure in first-floor toilets is very slow, so filling a bucket takes a long time.

I liked the property for its ambience, in-house park, good Wi-Fi, private beach, seating area by the beach, ample parking and good food. The rooms could be a little better, but they’re fine if you can adjust a bit.

The resort’s location right beside the sea is brilliant, and the staff are extremely accommodating. It’s far from the main town, so it feels secluded and makes for a great stay.
