Serena Beach Resort

The staff were friendly and the grounds were nicely kept on the outside. The beach itself can’t be blamed for the garbage people leave there, and it does get more or less cleaned up near the resort. Food was okay. As Europeans, we don’t understand why vegetarian also means no eggs when other dairy and butter are allowed. The game room and mini golf were closed. Our room and the one next door were the dirtiest we’d had on our Gujarat trip, despite this being the most expensive stay. A short walk after showering left our feet filthy black. The bedding and towels didn’t look very clean either, and I’m pretty sure the room hadn’t been properly cleaned since it was built. The pool is in the pictures, but we might have used it if there’d been parasols. There wasn’t anywhere to lounge. It’s very close to the India house!

The private beach is good, the location is peaceful, the rooms are nice, and the pool is very pleasant with long opening hours. Staff were helpful and the resort was clean. The restaurant menu was very limited on both nights we stayed, with about half the items unavailable. Indian food was good and the continental dishes were okay, but with no other place to eat, that wasn’t acceptable. The activity and kids center has been closed and broken for more than six months, which is plenty of time to repair it. The hotel should make that a priority for a family-friendly resort.

For 12K a night, I didn’t think this resort was worth it. The location is great and the rooms are good. Amenities include a swimming pool, gym, and game room, though I didn’t visit the gym or game room, and the latter looked dead from outside. I’m not sure it was operating. The food came from the same pre-decided menu as the one-day picnic guests, so even at this price you can’t choose what you want. They should offer a proper buffet. Breakfast tasted good, but without a buffet the service was really slow. Even simple cut fruit took 15-20 minutes. I’d look elsewhere in the area or avoid this resort at this price.

While walking near reception with my family at night, I noticed a security guard sitting on a chair through his entire duty shift, with no beat box or proper shelter. People feel the weather whether it’s summer or winter, and this must be uncomfortable. Management, please arrange a beat box or some kind of shade for the security staff as soon as possible.
