The Retreat

I recently attended an engagement ceremony at The Retreat. The venue setup was decent, but the security staff’s behavior was deeply disappointing. Some guests walked toward the rooftop restaurant out of curiosity. They didn’t go in or try to force access, but security spoke to them rudely and aggressively in front of others instead of politely explaining that a private event was underway. They publicly asked things like “Is this your premises?” and “Who are you?”, which was embarrassing and unnecessary. There was no sign or notice saying access was restricted. When someone politely asked the staff member to speak respectfully, he escalated the situation instead of handling it professionally. Basic courtesy and communication matter in hospitality, and how guests are treated shapes the experience, whatever the infrastructure is like. If respect and dignity matter to you, keep this in mind before booking or visiting The Retreat. I hope management takes this seriously and improves staff training.
