La Vega Resort

This is a great place to stay in North Goa for a very reasonable price. It's clean, quiet, and friendly, with AC, hot water, and soft beds. Breakfast is good, and the lovely staff welcome you and offer local suggestions. There are plenty of shops and restaurants at a convenient junction, and the beach is an easy walk away. Most visitors to Goa rent a scooter or bike, and from here it's easy to explore the northern beaches while Mapusa and the central attractions are still within reach.

The beds were cranky, the walls were damp and dirty, and there were spider webs around the room. There was no room service or water available. It might suit a solo traveler, or someone who just needs a place to leave luggage and freshen up.

Mr Shiva, the owner, is a friendly native of Andra who'll go out of his way to guide you with whatever you need. The resort serves good food, and there are decent nearby restaurants with authentic Goan food and liquor. Markets are close by too, and there are very good beaches nearby. It's a calm, serene place that's excellent for families. A must visit.

We had a good stay for three nights at La Vega. It was a lovely place at a very reasonable price, and the owner was supportive. The rooms were clean, and there was a shared kitchen. There are four or five beaches in the nearby area. For non-veg, try Mehmaan Nawaz, a small hotel on the way toward Ashvem beach road. For a vegetarian breakfast or lunch, Udipi restaurant in the nearby premises was best.
