Wanderers Hostel

A nice place if you enjoy the social side of hostel stays. You share a 4, 6, or 10-bed dorm with other travelers, and there are tents on the property too. The host was friendly and attentive. There’s a 4ft pool and a pool table.

The staff’s friendliness made this the best stay I had in Goa. They have dorms and private rooms, either in the main building or tents. I’d pick a tent for a different kind of experience. There’s an inexpensive in-house restaurant and bar with good food, a swimming pool, a snooker or billiards table, a reading lounge, board games, two very friendly dogs, wifi, hot and cold water, and laundry. Booking through MakeMyTrip got me a good discount and made the trip very cheap. You can rent one of their bikes, but book ahead if you want one. I’d also consider renting in the city before heading over, since buses to and from the hostel are limited and take the long route. I’d recommend it to backpackers and young couples.

We stayed in bunk-bed rooms and had a great time. It’s affordable, near the beach, has a pool, and the staff are friendly. Food choices are limited but tasty, and the beers kept coming. Mr Negi and Ajlan were so helpful, and thanks to Mr Gautam and his wife for running the place so well. The cleanliness could use a little improvement. Otherwise, a great spot for youngsters, and I’d love to try the tents next time.

The service was slow and poor, with staff who were laid-back and could have been more proactive. Power cuts happened often, and with no backup power we had plenty of sweaty moments. The deluxe AC tents, their best option, were comfortable and protected us adequately from weather and pests, but they heated up within seconds of the fan being turned off. The location itself was good, away from noise, with a calm and quiet place to return to. The stay wasn’t bad, though prompt service and a backup generator would have made it better.
