Bombay Backpackers

The bathrooms could use an upgrade, but I had a great two-night stay. The rooms were clean, the AC was nice and cool, and the wifi worked well. I also liked the red lights for people who are sleeping. Most of the staff were super friendly, breakfast was good, and the location was okay, about 15 minutes from a metro station.

The kitchen is a really nice touch, and the dorm rooms are clean and look good, like the rest of the hostel. All the rooms have A/C. The staff are wonderful, and this is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Absolutely brilliant, and I’d highly recommend it over the others in Mumbai.

It’s worth the money, with fast wifi and breakfast included for under 750 bucks, about $12. The people staying here range from students to couples to working professionals, and I met some wonderful people from Spain, Slovakia, Japan, Nepal, and Indonesia all in one night. Security seemed decent. Everything I left around was still in its place the next morning, so it felt safe enough. The staff and cook were really friendly and helpful, and they try their best to accommodate you.

Meeting people from different countries and socialising made it a good experience. The location is fine, with Kurla station about 900 metres away on foot and other local transport easy to find. There was a water problem on my first day, but it was fixed later. The place is small, with everything packed onto one floor, and there’s no open area or terrace to hang out in. It looks ugly from outside, but Bombay Backpackers is liveable inside. It wasn’t that well maintained, just average compared with other hostels I’ve stayed at. Prateek, one of the staff, turned my experience from average to good. He was friendly, helpful, and great to talk to.
