Hotel Jodiya

The bathrooms were clean, and room service was available, though you can't call them for every small issue. Hot water was sometimes unavailable. The rooms smelled unpleasant, especially during the monsoon, and there were cockroaches everywhere. The beds were in very bad condition, and the pillows were so awful they made me feel like puking. The extra bed smelled terrible, too. Some rooms are too small for a couple with one child, and I don't think three people can be comfortable in any room. The person sleeping on an extra bed on the floor will curse you for life. There was no lift, so carrying shopping bags upstairs was nearly impossible for the older people in our group. We booked four rooms for my family during the rainy season, June-July 2024. The rent was within my budget, but it was still a very bad experience for what I paid. Many people stay on Mohammad Ali Road because they're in Mumbai for shopping and the shopping areas are close by, but I'd suggest avoiding a stay there. The hotels there seem to have more or less the same problems. Reviews on Goibibo, Agoda, and Booking.com are exaggerated, so don't believe them. Even three stars is too much for the facilities; I'd give half a star if I could. I'm sorry, Jodiya guys, because the manager and staff were both so nice.

The room had a bad smell, and the AC smelled bad as well. There wasn't hot water available around the clock. Staff were rude and unprofessional, and they gave us tap water instead of complimentary bottled water. When we asked for Bisleri as a complimentary option, they said we'd have to pay. I wouldn't recommend staying here, even if it were the only hotel available.

I only needed a place for 10-12 hours before catching a flight the next day, so I managed. The area is crowded, and the rooms are very small. The bedsheets and pillowcases weren't fully clean, and the bathroom had no exhaust fan. There are four floors, numbered 1 to 4, and climbing to a higher floor is a pain because there's no lift. I wouldn't recommend it for families.

For work in Mumbai's Central Business District, the location is excellent. The rates are reasonable for the quality, the rooms are clean, and the bathroom is good, so I'd recommend staying here. My first room's AC had no cooling, which made things uncomfortable, and getting it changed could be difficult when the hotel is full. The next room they assigned had a working AC. I had a bad experience with the waiters when asking them to buy booze. They may say it's unavailable, especially if you're buying around 1030pm, even though wine shops in Mumbai are open and booze is available. Then they may say they can't get the quantity you asked for and push you to buy more. On business or leisure trips, I'd suggest buying things yourself by going out or using apps. If you want a nearby place for drinks or food, Renault Bar and Restaurant in Byculla is highly recommended.
