Hotel Popular Palace

The staff were really nice. The young room service guys were friendly and smiling, brought fresh towels and bed sheets whenever I asked, and none of my belongings were touched or went missing. I was there for two weeks, paying 1500 roupies, which seemed okay. Nights were quiet, though the window in my top-floor room looked onto an inner yard full of cars, motorcycles, repair spots, and a strong gasoline smell. The bathroom controls weren't clear, and sometimes I could only get hot water. I had to learn how to adjust the water supply. Nice stay, good experience.

For ₹350 a night, the price was very cheap, and the washrooms were decent and clean, though they stayed wet and damp from constant use. The place is a lodge, so you need to go out for food, but restaurants are very close. I booked a dormitory for classes in Mumbai and regretted it on the first day. With classes to attend and a need for privacy, it was a poor fit, even if it's okay for a short stay. It's all steel bunk beds with mattresses and blankets. Apart from at night, there was noise and the lights were on, and the AC only ran at night. I didn't use their services, which is why I gave 4 stars. I should've taken a separate room. Hopefully this was my first and last dormitory stay.

The location felt safe for families and couples, and the staff were good. The price was very good too.
