The place is in the market, so it’s easy to find whatever you need, and Masjid Railway Station is nearby for local trains. Corridor and outside cameras make it feel safe, and the staff were helpful. Cleanliness was quite good, too. The rooms are a bit cramped, though, with little space around them, and they can feel stuffy. Most have window AC. I saw quite a few foreigners staying here, perhaps they liked it more.

We had a pleasant stay while touring Mumbai/Bombay, since we only used the room to sleep and shower, and the staff were very good. The place is small, hard to find, and sits among wholesalers and poor people at the bottom of the road, near a busy street packed with people. Rooms are small and basic, with no drink-making facilities. There aren’t any cafes nearby or bars close by. A standard room costs an extra 200 rupees per day for AC.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable, and the room was reasonably clean, though cleanliness could improve. It was well priced but very noisy. The street was dirty and the location felt a bit rough. The room was basic, and the water pressure was really bad. You have to ask for hot shower water, and I had to keep asking them to switch on the AC I’d paid extra for.

I picked a cheaper room without air conditioning. The shower had an instant heater, but it didn’t work, though there was cold water. Plenty of rooms did have working AC. There was no desk or chair because there simply wasn’t space, and no hot water. My room had a comfortable mattress, two comfy pillows, and a clean sheet, though the mattress barely fit on the floor. A powerful, quiet ceiling fan, a large flat-screen TV with hundreds of channels in many languages, very fast WiFi and Internet, a private toilet, and a bidet were provided. The room had no Secure Storage Box, but there was a locked closet near reception. Valuables and electronics didn’t seem to be a security problem during my visit. The manager kindly loaned me an electrical adapter and extension cord for free when I asked, and let me put cold drinks in the lobby fridge. This modest walk-up motel occupies the 4th and 5th floor of an old concrete building in a run-down but bustling market area. There’s a good elevator, but reaching the first floor means climbing a narrow two-story stairway that’s steeper than a playground slide. Even a strong man ends up breathless. I found tiny ants, barely visible, and a few cockroaches. They didn’t seem to get into the mattress area. I’d rather put up with a few ants than have the room fumigated with poisons. By conventional Western tourism standards, I’d give this motel 0 stars, but that wouldn’t be fair. It needs to be judged against the price, location, and comparable places nearby. Book through an online site and you can get a significant price reduction for extra days. There may be a better deal without commissions or a credit card. If you stay more than 3 nights, you may be able to get the manager to drop the price as low as $,000 Rh. At 15~1700, Silver Moob is still a bargain, so don’t set yourself up for a rude experience. You’ll be very thirsty in this part of town, even in winter, so buy fresh fruit and veggie drinks on the street. The hotel only sells mango juice, Coke, and Sprite, and you may have trouble finding anyone at the front desk. I met an Israeli officer backpacking across India whose mother was visiting him at this hotel. He said he’d booked the room so his mother wouldn’t see the Salvation Army guest room he usually uses. Amazing. I can scarcely imagine more humble and less livable accommodations.
