Hotel Kemps Corner

The morning breakfast was filling and top notch, and the hotel felt secure and safe. The staff behaved excellently, and I liked everything about the place. I visited hotel Kemps Corner last month and was mesmerized by the luxurious accommodations. I'd love to return.

That terrace breakfast is the cherry on top and great value for money. There was so much to choose from: live egg and parantha stations, choley bhature, idli, dosa, sandwiches, sourdough, fruit, cereals, chicken sausages and ham, coffee, tea, chaas, curd, and juices. There was also a live flute player and a free foot massage. The staff were warm and customer service was excellent, and the rooms looked well designed. When our toilet door jammed at check-in, they dealt with it straight away. A few things need attention: the rooms are small, there's no hand towels or luggage rack, a floor tile was coming loose in #302, and a light hangs in front of the AC. The armchairs and table were also huge. Would I return? For sure, but I'll bring hand towels this time. 😄

A couple of things could be better: the lift may need changing, and the HI-tea used to have more choices. I'd suggest bringing back at least tea and some snacks. This was my second visit, two days this time for business and leisure with my wife. It's one of the coziest, nicest places in Malabar Hill. Rakesh was a great host while we dined, and Bhumika was always smiling and helpful. They really love feeding guests. Breakfast is amazing, and the place is clean, with good food and friendly, smiling people. There's a cat outside that always says hi, an aesthetic reception, leg massages in the morning, a good-looking terrace, and a man playing pleasant music. Five stars for my second visit.

The rooms were excellent, the food was among the best I've had in Mumbai, and the chef deserves special appreciation. From talking with the chef, I understood that the owners are very nice people. That made the front desk experience even more unfortunate. My one star is for the owner and chef only. At check-in, after we'd paid the full amount, we were made to sit for an hour. We were required to pay ₹31,000 upfront as the full deposit for two rooms and a two-day stay, without a proper explanation or prior clarity. The handling was so poor that we had to change rooms the next day. The process was awful, and the front desk staff were rude, arrogant, unprofessional, and made us uncomfortable. Their communication showed no civic sense or hospitality etiquette. Staff had told us the rooms were non-smoking. I respected that and smoked only in the bathroom, keeping the smoke alarm in mind. The next day, the same staff member demanded a ₹3,000 fine, which I paid. No one had mentioned or disclosed it at check-in. Surprise penalties like that feel like an ambush. If there are fines, disclose them clearly on the bill or at check-in. The front desk is driving guests away and damaging the hotel's reputation. Management should change that staff immediately. I'll never forget the experience because of the people at the front desk.
