Townhouse 809 Royal Palms Hotel - Rose Collection

The location is good, but that's about the only redeeming feature. The hotel is rundown, with subpar, dirty rooms, cigarette stains everywhere, rusty bathroom handles, and used soaps. The rooms are large, but little works: the TV was broken, and though the AC ran, I couldn't use its remote. There are no room keys, so every time we wanted in, someone at the front desk had to open the door. They give you a menu, but there's no restaurant on the premises. You can't get coffee or tea before 8:30 in the morning. At 9am I got a plate of idly straight from the fridge, served without reheating. Better avoid.

The hotel and rooms are big, and the location is good. It could be a good family holiday if some things improved: service isn't prompt, and the rooms stink. We had to call for room freshener three times. The bathroom is spacious, but the taps and bathtub don't work. At checkout, staff took my phone for some purpose and rated the hotel themselves without telling me. Not a smart move. I asked them not to leave us remembering the stay this way. Please improve.

The room was good, but the service was the reason for my rating. Check-in was awful. I had to wait almost 25 minutes in the lobby, which had no AC, while tired and wanting to freshen up. They won't provide cutlery unless you order food from their canteen, whatever reason you need it for, so bring your own if you're planning to stay there. Could have been better.

Breakfast was good, but you can't get food from the hotel's outside restaurant after 10:30pm. It doesn't have a proper restaurant, and there are no nearby buildings or restaurants. There's no parking on the premises, so you have to park on the road, which feels risky. The property is very old, in a poor location, and the rooms all seem the same despite the Oyo names like Lily and Rose. Don't travel along the road to the hotel at night. It's scary and unlit. The rooms smell strange from the old furniture and damp walls, and the paint is peeling. We found a rat in our room. Management took three hours to get it out, then finally agreed to move us.
