The curtains in the bathroom were filthy and stained, and there wasn’t even handwash, so I had to buy some from a local market. The place is advertised as a “trust-based” homestay, but the rooms have been turned into hotel rooms without providing even the bare minimum for travelers who’ve come all the way to Munnar. Staff offered no help at all. I had to drag my 25kg trolley bag up the stairs and through the property by myself. The service was terrible, and the whole experience at AC Mist Hotel in Munnar was a disaster. This was the worst hotel in Munnar, an unhygienic dump. If you’re fine with doing everything yourself and donating your money to incompetence, go ahead. Otherwise, stay away. I’ll never recommend it.

The location is excellent for seeing Munnar, but some of the facilities aren’t as good as the photos on the site suggest. The geyser wasn’t provided for hot water, the TV didn’t work, and some lights were out. If you only need a place to sleep and want to enjoy the Munnar views and sightseeing, the location is great. Everything else is very good ✌️

The rooms were clean and cozy, and good value for money. The central location makes it easy to get buses, cabs, or other transport, with eateries and tea bazaars close by. Staff were polite, helpful, and accommodating, and offered guidance.

The rooms are nice and have hot water around the clock. Beyond that, there’s little to offer. There’s no restaurant or room service, so you can’t even get tea here. At Rs 2000 per day, it doesn’t feel worth the price. The lodge is remote on top of a hill, and getting there is a serious problem. Without your own vehicle, don’t come. For meals or tea, you have to go half a kilometre downhill by road, or climb down more than 100 steps to reach an eatery, then come back up those same steps. It’s exhausting and hard on the knees, and can leave you breathless. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with health problems. I stayed for a while but left soon after because it felt like solitary confinement that I’d imposed on myself. Don’t trust the reception clerks if they say the eateries are very close. They’re tantalizingly far away.

Room 201 had a lovely view from its balcony, and the room itself was spacious and good value. Everything was well kept, from the floors and bathroom to the sheets and towels. There was hot water all day from the electric geyser, plus a treated water dispenser for hot and cold drinking water. Getting on the Wi-Fi was easy too, just scan the QR code in the room. The front desk woman was warm, quick and efficient with our check-in and check-out, and she answered our questions. Getting to the property meant a steep climb up steps through a church. On two days, a function brought crowds that made the route hard to pass. The alternative added nearly a kilometre and another climb. The property is part of a church, and programs happened daily, with noise reaching our room. There was also a bonfire below us with loud music until about 11 pm, which made it hard to sleep after tiring days. In the room, charging points were limited, there were no bedside light controls and no side tables.
