It’s an okay budget place, and the location works well for getting around Munnar. The rooms could be good, but they’ve been left mouldy, including the walls and pillows. People might talk loudly outside your room until midnight, then start up again at 5 in the morning.

The staff were helpful, and the rooms were clean and airy, with good quality blankets. Hot water was available all the time. The toilets could have been cleaner, though, and for a budget hotel the 2000 price felt high. Parking is tricky for sedans and larger cars, especially in the rain, because the slope is narrow and slippery. The road to the hotel is so narrow that even a scooter can’t be passed.

We booked two rooms for two days in the last week of April 2017, and the stay at NG Regency was painful. The rooms looked old, the beds were poor, and one had a burned blanket. One bathroom had no hot water, and another had no cold water; a toilet was also missing a water spray gun. In the room next to ours, five people were smoking, and the smoke spread everywhere. They knocked on our doors three times during the night because they had the room number mixed up, so we barely slept. The caretakers were rude and didn’t respond or fix any of the problems. They never even said sorry. We were on the third floor, with reception on the ground floor, and the phone from our room to reception didn’t work, so we had to go downstairs every time we needed to report a question or complaint.

The rooms were very clean, and the service was good. The staff are kind and friendly, especially Kartik, and they can help arrange sightseeing around Munnar. Highly recommended.
