Forest Hills at Tala

A great spot for a quiet break, especially if you love nature. It feels like being in a forest, surrounded by greenery, but the property is still very well maintained. The rooms are roomy, clean, and comfortable, and it felt safe for families and other visitors. The location is awesome, the staff are friendly and helpful, and services were excellent. Food quality was good too. I’d recommend it for a peaceful, safe getaway.

The location is beautiful, but that alone can’t make up for the poor management and guest experience at Forest Hills at Tala. I had one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had. Staff seemed indifferent when concerns came up, communication was poor, and there was little accountability. The lack of coordination, professionalism, and basic hospitality affected both customers and drivers. Drivers play an important part in getting guests there safely and comfortably, yet they weren’t treated with respect or given proper support. For a place promoted as a premium destination, the service fell far below expectations. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable, hassle-free stay unless service quality, staff behavior, and guest management improve significantly.

My brother and I had arranged this weekend more than two weeks ahead through Agoda to celebrate his wife’s birthday. After nearly five hours on the road from Mumbai with my two-year-old nephew, we reached the resort and were told our confirmed reservation “was not valid.” We showed the genuine booking confirmation and clear payment details, but management wouldn’t take responsibility or offer a solution for our exhausted family. Instead, they blamed Agoda and MakeMyTrip. While we were stuck at the desk, another six guests told us they had the same problem. Management was just as defensive and hostile with them. It looked to me like a scam: the property seemed to invalidate online bookings so it could charge higher walk-in fares directly. The resort eventually canceled our booking, leaving us stranded and scrambling for last-minute arrangements with a toddler. No one acknowledged the disruption to our family or the milestone birthday we’d planned in advance. They ruined my sister-in-law’s birthday weekend and wasted hours of our travel time, with zero accountability. A premium resort should offer professionalism, service, and accountability, but this place failed on all three. Based on what I saw, I’d strongly urge travelers to think twice before booking. A confirmed reservation apparently means nothing here, and management’s response made things even worse. Extremely poor, unprofessional, and shady business practice.

Our luxurious tent was huge and comfortable, with all amenities and an attached balcony overlooking the valley. The resort really does have a calm, serene feel, up in the hills and surrounded by forest. There are several room varieties. Getting to the dining area at the base wasn’t practical for older people or anyone with health issues, since it’s downhill. The food was decent, good enough though not lavish, and live music made dinner lively. Breakfast could use more sweets for kids, like waffles, pancakes, or doughnuts. The advertised cycling and ATV activities disappointed us: all the cycles were rusty and out of order, and there was just one ATV. One person had to guide and help with those activities, rifle shooting, and archery. There were monkeys around, so we had to keep the doors and balcony closed. The petting zoo was neglected and had few animals, just lambs, chickens, a few turkey ducks, a hamster, and a hare. The pool was disappointing too, open right among the dining area, where people were eating and watching. The whole experience was okay, a decent place for a relaxing family outing.
