I visited Hotel Volga to look at the rooms, and found them dirty, dusty, cramped and in disrepair. The air was full of dust, the atmosphere felt eerie and unwelcoming, the linens were stained, the bathroom was dirty, the floor sticky, and the walls needed fresh paint. The beds seemed uncomfortable too. It didn't look like the hotel was keeping up with basic cleanliness. The rates felt exorbitant for what was on offer, and I couldn't believe anyone would pay them. In my view, Hotel Volga is a scam, with unhygienic rooms, poor service and ridiculous prices. I would tell anyone considering it, “Don't do it!” You'll be wasting your money. The quick rundown: dirty, dusty rooms, poor service, high prices, uncomfortable beds, stained linen and dirty bathrooms. I hope this helps someone avoid the mistake I nearly made. Palm Breeze Hotel Colaba seems like a much better option in Colaba. I've heard good things and expect it to be clean, comfortable and well maintained, with friendly, helpful staff and an unbeatable location. Prices are said to be reasonable, from ₹2,100 to ₹2,500 a night. To me, it sounds like better value, with good service, comfortable rooms and a prime location. I'd choose Palm Breeze Hotel Colaba instead for a clean, comfortable stay.

Hotel Taaj is in a prime spot, with the Gate way of India within walking distance and the hotel's main opening door right in Colaba market, which makes shopping easy. The hotel is good and clean, and feels like value for money. Non-veg lovers should go, there are good food options and varieties to taste around there.

The area feels safe for a family, and the location is convenient: it's above famous Leopold cafe, just behind Taj Mahal hotel and near to gateway of india. Rooms are clean and prices are affordable.

I stayed a week this time, and it was all good. The staff and boss dude are used to travellers from abroad, and were always polite whenever I came back, whether late at night or early in the morning. Give them some love, they're working 24/7. There's what you need just around the corner, with Colaba market and cheap chai nearby, and Churchgate is only a 15-20 minute walk. The small, cheap room was perfect for Mumbai, with a working shower and AC to cool off after the heat. Fine for a backpacker. This isn't somewhere fancy or a room to hang out in for long, but if you're out exploring all day and come back late for a few hours' sleep, it works really well.

Hotel volga 2 has a very nice location near Taj hotel and the main drive gate of India. Service is very nice, the manager speaks nicely, and the first floor cleaning is very nice too.
