The location worked especially well for Air force selection board candidates arriving by bus or train, since the hotel offers them a special discount. The bus stand and Mysore palace are within walking distance, and the railway station is 2 kms away. It’s also suitable for tourists and families. The room was spacious and well ventilated, with a good bed, a clean washroom, a TV and a cupboard. There’s a lift, too. Staff were polite from the guard to the manager and housekeeping. Room service is available, but I didn’t use it, so I can’t comment on it.

Angeeti serves Indian, continental, Tandoor and Chinese options in a casual setting, and the hotel has a business centre and dining on site. It’s in a central spot, under a 15-minute walk from Mysore Palace, with Mysore Zoo and Jaganmohan Palace & Art Gallery also about 15 minutes away on foot. Mysore Junction is a little over a mile away. The six-storey hotel has simple rooms with tiled or wood floors and en-suite bathrooms. They include TVs and tea/coffee-making facilities; upgraded rooms add air conditioning, some have sofas, and family rooms are available. Reception offers safety deposit boxes, laundry service and a travel desk. Wi-Fi and on-site parking are free. Meeting spaces come in different sizes and can hold 20-200 people.

The room had no shower head, a dirty floor and a truly disgusting bathmat. The TV had no English channels, either. Every morning at 6.15, staff rang the bell to tell us to switch on the hot water. What kind of hotel policy is that? It wasn’t a good stay. Don’t waste your time and money here, there are much better options for this price elsewhere.

We ended up moving to another hotel, and I’m sharing the details so others can be aware. The small grey cockroaches were everywhere: cupboards, windows, headboard, and lots came out when we lifted the bedsheet. There was no phone to call housekeeping, so we went downstairs to complain. He said he’d come with spray, but never did. I had to go down and shout before he finally gave us a room on another floor, saying it was disinfected and on the top floor with no roaches. We left. The bathroom looked okay at first, but wasn’t clean on closer inspection. There was no shower or hot water. He mentioned a switch, but there was no heater; we turned it on and waited an hour, still only cold water. No one seemed to care or help.
